Rutas de Senderismo y Bicicleta
From El Colmenar (Estación de Gaucín) you can try lot of routes, by walking or bycicle. We offer you a tested compilation of the best routes. You will find downloadable tracks to charge it in your smartphone or GPS. The surroundings are wonderful and allows you to enjoy a lot of activities into the purest nature into the Parque Natural de los Alcornocales.
Route to Cañón de las Buitreras
Difficulty: Easy / Moderate – 6,5 km – Linear path- Starting from El Colmenar (Estación de Gaucín)
This is with no doubt, the most preferred route of our guests. The “Cañón de Las Buitreras” is a natural canyon which was declared Natural Monument. It is a linear route, which goes up besides the river Guadiaro until the canyon, where you will find a natural source of water (not directly visible), and you can swim there in a very special and calm part of the river.

Circular route through Alcornocales Natural Parl (via puerto Zurera)
Difficulty: Easy / Moderate – 7 km – Circular – Hiking – Starting from El Colmenar (Estación de Gaucín)
Circular route through Parque Natural de los Alcornocales which goes by nice paths used for the extraction of cork by mules. You will find a forest with cork oaks, gall oaks, laurel trees and ash trees. There are views to our valley and also to the Gibraltar Strait and Africa continent. Short route to fuente del caimán
Difficulty: Easy – 3,4 km – Linear – Hiking – Starting from El Colmenar (Estación de Gaucín)
This route is a short walking beside the river, perfect for doing it with kids and family in a relaxed walking.

Carnivorous Plants Route
Difficulty: Moderate – 10 km – Circular – Hiking – Starting from El Colmenar (Estación de Gaucín)
Circular route through Parque Natural de los Alcornocales wich goes by some paths used for extracting cork. The forest is full of cork oaks, gall oaks ash trees… and with the possibility of seeing some carnivorous plants in cleared areas. There are also views to Africa continent and to our valley.

Bycicle route through Carrera del Caballo and GR-7
Difficulty: Moderate – 27 km – Circular – MTB – Starting from El Colmenar (Estación de Gaucín)
This route can be followed by bycicle or by walking. You will discover gorgeous views for the western valley to the Ubrique mountain range, and to the southern valley to see the Gibraltar Strait and Africa continent.

Extended route by bycicle through Carrera del Caballo and GR-7
Difficulty: High – 47 km – Circular – MTB – Starting from El Colmenar (Estación de Gaucín)
This is an extended route to the previous one.

Route GR 141 El Colmenar – Benarrabá
Difficulty: Moderate – 18,7 km – Linear – Hiking – Starting from El Colmenar (Estación de Gaucín)
This is the third stage of the «Gran Senda de la Serranía de Ronda», GR 141. You will start from our village and it slowly climbs to Hacho mount, to finally reach Gaucín village, and descend to Benarrabá village through Genal valley.

Route through Cerro Maravilla
Difficulty: Easy – 11 km – Linear – Hiking – Starting from El Colmenar (Estación de Gaucín)
This route goes beside the river going down to San Pablo de Buceite through the eastern side, with the Maravilla mount at our left side and crossing through a beautiful natural forest. There is the option to go on until San Pablo de Buceite village and come back by train.

Route through muleteer paths
Difficulty: High – 28 km – Linear – Hiking – Starting from El Colmenar (Estación de Gaucín)
Immersion in the Natural Park of the Alcornocales that passes largely by the GR7 and that can be completed to do it in one direction or by returning in the last train from the Jimena de la Frontera Station.
